The Homeowners Insurance Company for New Home Owners
Ellie gasped, “All I did was open the oven door…and BOOM!”
It started out as one of those perfect, friends-on-the-deck summer evenings you dream about when you’re imagining your first home.
What I hadn’t counted on was the smoke alarm.
“Jack!”
It was Ellie. From the sound of it, something was definitely
wrong.
We all made tracks for the kitchen. What I saw made me stop
so fast, Rachel and Joel almost plowed into me.
Ellie stood next to the open oven, mitt in hand, eyes fixed on a pan of flaming corn tortillas.
She’d been on the toasting step of a new quesadilla recipe
she’d discovered online. Ellie gasped, “All I did was
open the oven door…and BOOM!”
Luckily, the sight reminded me of an online fire safety
video I’d seen recently on the Country Financial site.
“If a fire starts in an oven, close the oven door or keep it
closed. Cutting off oxygen will smother the flame.”
Check.
Like a pro, I flipped the door shut and turned off the oven. Everyone sighed with relief.
Let me admit right here that home insurance isn’t something I’d thought a lot about.

As the flames died down on our very own "could have been" kitchen disaster, I felt so thankful we were protected by homeowners insurance from Country Financial.
When we bought our house, we compared home insurance companies online,
and to us, the down-to-earth way of doing business at Country said, “roots.”
Roots, as in being part of our community and really caring
about us and our home.
We also felt that having a local insurance professional in
our corner was a big plus.
We liked the way our Country Financial insurance agent,
Sandy, listened and answered all our new homeowner insurance questions. Her insights helped pinpoint the right
coverages and saved us money on our home insurance quotes.
Honestly? We just feel so much smarter than if we’d just shopped
for cheap home insurance.
Nacho usual insurance company.
Before you can say, “salsa and chips,” we’re back living our dream.
Sad to say, our little “nacho inferno” did cause a bit of damage.
Not to worry. I sent a text off to Sandy and she took care
of all the insurance claim details. Before you can say, “salsa and chips,” we’re
back living our dream.
We’ve even got another backyard meet up on the calendar for
next Saturday. One difference: This
time, we’re ordering pizza.
